Died: 1722, 20th March at Kensington Gravel Pits (died of Consumption). Buried Rockingham Castle, Northamptonshire.

Parents: Lewis Watson 1st Earl of Rockingham and Catherine Sondes, daughter of George Sondes, 1st Earl Faversham.

Marriages: 21st March 1709 to Catherine Tufton, daughter of Thomas Tufton, 6th Earl of Thanet.

Children:  Lewis c1714, 2nd Earl of Rockingham, Thomas 1715, 3rd Earl of Rockingham, Edward 17?? and Catherine 17??

Occupation: Politician.

Notes:  Matriculated at Merton College, Oxford, 1st June 1703. Travelled to Germany in 1707. On arrival back in England in 1708, was elected as MP for Canterbury. Lost his seat at the 1710 general election, was returned as MP for New Romney in 1713. Was styled Viscount Sondes on his fathers elevation to Earl of Rockingham in 1714. In 1718 he went over to the opposition and he was appointed a Gentleman of the Bedchamber to the Prince of Wales in1719.

In 1729, his widow and four sisters, became co-heiresses to the Barony of Clifford. His widow died 13th February 1734 and was also buried at Rockingham.
