A potted history of D1755
D1755 a British Railways Class 48 diesel, was built at the Brush Falcon Works and entered traffic with British Railways on 14th August 1964.
Renumbered to 47514, she was given the name ‘Queen Mother’ by the Queen Mother at Aberdeen in October 1982. It was unusual for a member of the Royal Family to actually carryout such a ceremony.
She was renumbered 47773 in 1994, at which time she lost the name ‘Queen Mother’.
In March 2007 she was purchased for preservation by Vintage Trains, refurbished and given her original number D1775. Her home base is Tyseley Locomotive Works.
