Turntable bridge with planking in place
Next Page     Previous Page    Top of Page
This is the turntable bridge with the walkway planking fitted. The dark spots along the outer edge are the holes which will house the safety rail stanchions. Notice the dark lines in the centre of the deck. This is where the copper cladding had been removed, to ensure there is no direct contact between the two rails. Each rail will pick up the positive or negative of the 12 volt power used to drive the turntable.
Progress in laying the race rail
The photograph shows the progress in laying the race rail on which the turntable bridge rotates (size of the board is 60cm x 60cm). The rail sits in 60 chairs and each chair requires two holes to be drilled so they can be pinned sown. The lighter coloured portion is the turntable well, which slopes to the centre so that rainwater can feed into a centre drain. The very centre is where the turntable spindle passes through to the motor which drives the turntable. The two black objects at the bottom are only the feet of the camera tripod.
