This is the completed Fowler 4F. Designed by Henry Fowler for the
Midland Railway (subsequently part of the London Midland and Scottish
railway), the class numbered 772 locomotives, built between 1911 and 1941.
Only two locomotives of the class are preserved and as of May 2009, 4422 is
the only one in service. The locomotive runs as 44422, its number in the
days of British Railways.
