Slim Latham after smoking in bed
Taken at HMS St Angelo, Malta in 1960, this is the aftermath of smoking, whilst laying on your bed and dosing off, following a twelve hour all night watch. Despite the severe damage to his shirt, Henry's friend Slim Latham got off very lightly, mainly due to the shirt being an all cotton material. The material for navy working shirts was subsequently changed to poly cotton, which under the same conditions would have caused severe burns.
