Notes: In 1841 Census Nicholas and family were living in Baggot Street, Birmingham. In that census he is shown as being in born in Warwickshire. On Nicholas's wedding certificate, his father John Pitch is shown as a Sailor. Unfortunately, no further information regarding Nicholas's parents or possible siblings has been found. Nicolas died of Consumption, know known as Tuberculosis or TB.

There are on Ancestry.co.uk, family trees which suggest Nicholas's parents were John Pilch (not Pitch) and Ann Frost, both from Norfolk, John being born in Bodham in 1794 and Anne being born in Bodham in 1772. They were married in Bodham 22nd December 1795. However, no information actually linking them to Nicholas has been found. Following an Ancestry DNA match between Henry Simmonds 1937 and William Frost 1750, it is confirmed Anne Frost 1772 is the mother of Nicholas. Anne did marry John Pilch 1774 in Bodham, Norfolk on 22 December 1795.

Nicholas's wife Sarah Jones was born in Lichfield and was baptised at St Chad, Lichfield on 4th April 1822. She died in Sherlock Street, Birmingham on 5th May 1845, her death certificate states she was 28 years old, which would put her birth year as 1817 rather than 1822 as in the 1841 Census. Cause of death was Peritonitis.
