Born: c1549.

Place of Birth: Rockingham Castle, Northamptonshire.

Died: 1617, 1st March at Rockingham Castle, Northamptonshire. Buried March 4th at Rockingham Church.

Parents: Sir Edward and Anne Watson, daughter of Sir Edward Montague of Boughton, Northamptonshire.

Marriages: Sir Edward married Anne, daughter of Kenelm Digby of Stoke Dry, Rutland, in April 1567.

Children:  Anne 1569, Lewis 1st Baron Rockingham 1584, Edward 1585, Emma, Mary, Catherine, Elizabeth, Temperence, Frances and Dorothy.

Occupation: Politician, MP for Stamford 1601-1601.

Notes:  Edward was knighted by James Ist at Charterhouse on 11th May 1603. In 1613, Edward made over his estates to his son Sir Edward.

Edward's father, Sir Edward Watson born 1516, acquired the lease of Rockingham Castle from King Henry VIII. He subsequently replaced parts of the castle, which were in disrepair, with a Tudor house and gardens. The castle became a hunting lodge for the nobility.

The son of Edward (c1549), Lewis 1st Baron Rockingham, aquired the freehold of the castle and its lands from the crown.
