Born: 1815, Baptised 28th May as illegitimate son of Mary Champion and William Woods.

Place of Birth: Chiddingfold, Surrey

Died: Compton, buried 17th July 1873 in Shalford (as Thomas Champion).

Parents: Mary Champion and William Woods.

Marriages: Rose Simmonds, 14th March 1846 at Chiddingfold Parish Church.

Children: Jane Baptised 26th May 1846 in Chiddingfold, Surrey.

Occupation: On the marriage certificate and daughter's baptism record shown as shoemaker.

Notes: On the marriage certificate his father is shown as William Woods, though this was a changed from William Champion. Similarly, Thomas was entered as Champion Woods, but was altered to erase Woods. It seems Thomas interchanged the family name as either Champion or Champion Woods. Their daughter Jane being baptised Jane Champion Woods. Click here to view parish baptism entries. Daughter Jane passed away in Kingston Upon Thames and was burried at St Mary, Hampton on 23 July 1848.

In the 1851 Census, Thomas and Rose were living in Kingston upon Thames as Thomas and Rose C. Woods, Thomas's occupation given as Cordwainer (a highclass shoemaker). In the 1871 Census, they were in Kingston living as Thomas and Rose Woods, with Thomas as a shoemaker. In the 1881 Census, Rose was living alone in Kingston Upon Thames, where she passed away and was buried on 5th April 1886.
