Born: 1670, October.

Place of Birth: Crathorne, North Yorkshire.

Died: 1740, 11th March in Hammersmith, London.

Parents: Ralph and Anne Crathorne, nee Tunstall.

Marriages: None.

Children: None.

Occupation: Professor at the English College, Douay, France (a Catholic Seminary). Missioner in Hammersmith, London.

Notes: When ordained a priest at Douay, he used the name Yaxley, the family name of his great grandmother. When he returned to England he used the alias Augustin Shepherd. Whilst working in Hammersmith, he wrote 'A Catholick's Resolution', showing his reasons for not being a Protestant, in 1718. He also translated several French religious texts into English.
