Born: 11th June 1889.

Place of Birth: Birmingham.

Died: March 1949, Birmingham.

Parents: James and Ann Hardy, nee Hyde.

Children: With Sarah, William Robert 1910, Esther Selina 1913, Cecil 1915.

Occupation: Tinman at Cadburys, Bournville (1911 Census). Checkweigher Cocoa (1939 Register).

Notes: In the 1891 Census, William was living in Northfield, Birmingham.  In the 1901 Census, James was again living in Northfield, Birmingham. In the 1911 Census, James was living in High Street, Stirchley, Birmingham, sharing a house with wife Sarah's family.

William served in the RASC in WWII as Private, Service Number 174414. He served in Salonica between August 1916 to October 1918 and was discharged in April 1919.

Williams son William Robert served in the 5th Bn Grenadier Guards as Guardsman, Service Number 2622803. He was killed in Italy on 7th February 1944 and was buried in Anzio Commonweath War Cemetary.

Williams first wife Sarah Gertrude, was born circa 1889 in Openshaw, Manchester. His second wife Edith May was born in Halesowen, Worcestershire in 1899.
