Born: 1817.
Place of Birth: Burnley, Lancashire. Baptised 13th February, 1817.
Died: 1887 in Keighley, Yorkshire.
Parents: Adam's mother Ann is only known from his baptism record, as there was no fathers name noted. So it is assumed that Massey was his mothers family name.
Marriages: Ann?
Children: Nathan 1853, Martha 1856 and Elizabeth 1860.
Occupation: Wool Comber.
Notes: 1861 Census family living at 33 Park Lane, Keighley, Yorkshire. 1871 Census family had moved to 65 Park Lane. 1881 Census family living at 58 Bradford Street, Keighley. Living with Adam were his wife, daughter Elizabeth and grand daughter Margaret Ann Croughtis aged 16. No other information on Margaret can be found, but is does suggest he had another daughter. In the 1891 Census, Ann Massey was boarding at 166 Park Lane, Keighley with James Crouder and family. No trace can be found of son Nathan after the 1871 Census.
Adam's daughter Elizabeth married William Benjamin Flanders (born in Huntingdon), at St Mary's Church, Eastwood, Keighley, on 28th June 1884. The 1911 Census information states there were four children, Walter born c1884 in Keighley and Ethel born c1892 in Stamford were living with their parents at 8 Grange Street, Keighley. No trace of the other two has been found, but they were living at the time of the census. Interestingly, in the 1911 Census, Elizabeth was listed as the house holder and she also signed the Census form, not William. William and Elizabeth were living at 8 Grange Street on their deaths in 1941.
Adam had a twin sister Eve, they were Baptised on the same day in Burnley. Eve passed away age 1 and was buried at the Church of St Peter, Burnley, on 20th August 1818.
