The two notices on this page, illustrate Albert Edwards involvement in the
nation wide organization, the Anti-Compulsory Vaccination League. He was the
Secretary of the Keighley Branch. The one on the left is for a meeting held
on 17th December 1888 for what appears to be their AGM and he spells his
family name as Schoon. The one right is associated with getting a member on
to the local School Board in a notice from 1890 were the spelling is Scoon.
Some of the wording on this document is typical of that used by the
organization, "The time has arrived when we should make a firm stand in the
interest of our Children,
independent of our Political Opinions or Religious Belief". It seems
there was wide support for this aim.
