Parents: Father is unknown. Charles's mother was a widow, Mary Ann Spittles, nee Carter, who was born in Leigh, Kent c1826 to Sophia Carter. Mary Ann was baptised 13th April 1827 in Leigh, Kent.
Marriages: Sarah Simmonds, 25th December 1883 in the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul Godalming.

Occupation: Bricklayer.
Notes: Charles was born in the Sevenoaks Union Workhouse, along with his twin brother James, where his mother was a widowed, long term resident. In the 1871 Census, she was working at the Workhouse as a Nurse. She died in Sevenoaks in July 1880. She was the widow of Henry Spittle 1821-1844, with whom she had five children. The name Spittle, became Spitttles via church records.
Charles's twin James 1860-1923, married Ann Maria Mills 1859-1943, in December 1882 and they had four children together, whilst living in Kent.
