In the 1911 Census, Martha Schoon, nee Massey, was found in the Keighley Union Workhouse. It included an Infirmary in which she was a patient.
Martha died of Phthisis Pulmonalis, a tuberculosis of the lungs with progressive wasting of the body, in the workhouse infirmary. Her death was recorded by her sister Elizabeth. On the death certificate it states she was the wife of Albert Edward Schoon, so it would appear they never divorced, following his move to the United States. She had been living at 8 Grange Street, Keighley, which was the home of her sister Elizabeth and family.
