Notes: Both Mary Jane's age and name vary in the census information 1881 to 1911. In the 1881 Census, she was a patient in the Royal Surrey Hospital, her name given as Mary Jane aged 11. This is consistent with here birth details. In the 1891 Census, she is living with her mother Martha, sister Alice and brother Albert at 20 Compton Common and is listed as Mary Ann, aged 19. Her occupation is dressmaker. In the 1901 Census, she is living in Cranleigh with her sister Annie Carpenter. On the census form she is listed as Mary aged 25 and designated as a cripple. The 1911 Census lists her as living in Compton with brothers George and Albert and her daughter Minnie. Her age is given as 34 and is a dressmaker.

When Mary Jane's daughter Minnie, born in Compton, 25th August 1901 (Baptised in Farncombe 3rd November 1901), married John Bonner, Thomas Harmsworth (her step father) was shown has her father. Mary Jane's brother Albert, was a witness of Minnie's wedding.
