Place of Birth: Knowsley, Lancashire.

Died: 1503, 5th December at Derby House, St Paul's Wharf, London. Buried in St James Garlickhythe, London.

Parents: Sir Thomas de Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby and Lady Eleanor Neville, sister of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick.

Marriages: (1) 1482 Lady Joan Le Strange. (2) Lady Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond.

Children: Ann 1480, Jane 1483, Thomas 2nd Earl of Derby 1485, John 1486, Sir James 1487, Eleanor 1489, Elizabeth 1489, George 1495, Hellen 1496, Catherine 1497, Anthony 1499, Mary 1406.

Occupation: 9th Baron Strange of Knockin, decended from the Royal House of Plantagenet, was summoned to parliament as Baron Strange. Constable of Pontefract Castle, Constable of Knaresborough Castle. Constable of Wicklow Castle and Chief Justice of the Duchy of Lancaster.

His son James, founded a branch of the family, known as the 'Stanleys of Bickerstaff', from which the 11th Earl of Derby and all subsequent earls decend.
