British Railways Mark 1 Lavatory Composte coach
The photograph above, shows the progress with building the first passenger coach for the new layout. It is a model of a British Railways Mark 1, Lavatory Composite. The five compartments to the left are 2nd Class, the compartment near centre is the lavatory (containing the rechargeable batteries for the lighting) and 1st Class seating is to the right of the lavatory. Just above the passengers you can make out the interior lighting. The discernable dip in the floor will straighten out when the coach sides are fitted.

Fowler 4F at an advanced stage of building
This is the Fowler 4F now at an advanced stage of building. The tender was quite complicated to build with a large number of small parts, that proved tricky to solder. The engine body is almost complete, the largest part outstanding being the boiler back head. This carries the regulator (which controls the speed of the engine) and the mechanism controlling water flow from the tender to the boiler, etc.
