Great Western Railway 1466 at Didcot
Great Western Railway 14XX
The current locomotive on the stocks is a Great Western Railway class 14XX. They were actually built as class 48XX in 1932. However, in 1948 the GWR decided to convert some tender locomotives as oil burners and numbered in the 48XX range, so the little tanks become 1400-1474. Most were scraped in the 1960's, but four engines were preserved. One of those saved was 1466, which this model will be finished as. See photo below of 1466 at the Great Western Railway Society, Didcot, Oxfordshire. It is my own photograph.
My mode of operation is having more than loco building at a time. This enables me, when encountering a build problem, which I find difficult to solve, to move to another loco. Having carried out work on the second loco, I revert back to the first and usually come up with a fix for the problem. Whilst most of the fixes are of my own, others are suggestions from fellow modellers.
