James's father stealing report
Above is the reported stealing of Onions and sentencing, of James. Following sentence, he was sent to a Prison Hulk at Portsmouth. It was published in the Staffordshire Advertiser of 16th October 1802.

Above is a copy of James's prison record, bottom entry. He was eventually transported to Australia, where it is thought he died. The last but one column on the right, is headed 'Sentence'. The last column, shows he was sent first to the Royal Africa Corps (RAC).
